It is usually used in the production of copper alloy castings. Most copper casting alloy can’t be pressure processing, such as beryllium bronze casting and Tin bronze casting(Cu5Sn5Zn5Pb), this kind of alloy and plastic is poor, cannot undertake pressure processing.Beryllium bronze casting mainly used as explosion-proof tools,moulds, submarine cable repeater structure, welding electrodes, etc. Casting Tin bronze, casting aluminum bronze, casting brass are mainly used for bearings, bushings, liners, gears, pipe fittings, etc. Copper alloy casting is widely used in crafts, the typical example is the ancient bronze ware.

Materials:

According to the main components of the alloy, copper alloy casting can be divided into bronze, lead, tin bronze, aluminum bronze, beryllium bronze, brass, aluminum, brass, silicon manganese brass, lead brass, brass, etc.

The technology difference about main copper alloy materials:

1. Tin bronze, crystallization is characterized by large range of crystallization temperature, solidification area wide.Casting performance of liquidity is poor, prone to shrinkage, not easy to oxidation.Process characteristics are wall thickness to directional solidification solidification (order), complex thin-walled parts, general wall thickness to solidification at the same time.

2. Aluminum bronze and brass: crystal is characterized by the crystallization temperature range is small, for the solidification features one by one.Casting performance better liquidity, form concentrated shrinkage, easy to oxidation.Process characteristics is aluminum bronze gating system for the bottom note type, aluminium brass casting system for open type.

3. Silicon brass: crystallization characteristics is between tin bronze and aluminum bronze.Casting performance is best (in special brass).Process is characterized by directional solidification process, the note type pouring system, riser size smaller.

Tin bronze crystallization temperature range is very wide,solidification speed is slower easy to form shrinkage, causing leakage occurred cracking system.

In the alloy composition elements in crystallization in the phenomenon of uneven distribution of called segregation.Welding molten pool a crystallization process, because the cooling speed, it has been in the solidification of the weld metal chemical composition to spread and causing uneven distribution cased segregation.

Copper alloy ingot casting on the surface of a certain range of the solute concentration outside-in gradually reduce the upper or lower solute concentration is higher than the internal defects.Inverse segregation of solute concentration distribution in contrast to the general segregation, or abnormal segregation.


In the copper alloy, tin phosphor bronze the tin inverse segregation phenomenon is very typical, serious when may will affect the quality of ingot casting and pressure processing production.Inverse segregation is the opposite of normal segregation, or in the surface of ingot ingot surface low melting point elements content is higher than that of low melting point elements within the ingot casting.

 

Tin bronze crystallization temperature range is very wide, solidification speed is slower, easy to form shrinkage, causing leakage and hot crack.


How to prevent negative segregation ?
1. Place the cold iron, improve the cooling speed, a layer of solidification.
2. Adjust the chemical composition, such as zinc, narrow crystallization temperature range.
3. Take effective measures, the refined degassing reduce air content in the alloy.
