UHMWPE (high molecular weight the molecular weight of HDPE is usually only 2~30 million) gives the excellent performance, but also belongs to the moderate price and high performance thermoplastic engineering plastic, it almost has the advantages of all kinds of plastic, with ordinary polyethylene and other engineering plastics unparalleled wear and impact resistance, self lubrication, corrosion resistance, impact energy absorption, low temperature resistant, non-toxic, easy adhesion, easy absorption and low density performance. In fact, there is no simple polymer material with so many excellent properties.

Folding abrasion resistance

The wear resistance of UHMWPE is in the top of plastic and exceeds some metals. Figure 1 is the comparison of wear resistance between UHMWPE and other materials. You can see from Figure 1, compared with other engineering plastics, UHMWPE mortar wear index is only PA66 1/5, HEPE and PVC 1/10; compared with the metal, carbon steel is 1/7, brass 1/27. The wear resistance of this high, so with the general plastic wear test method is difficult to test the degree of wear, and specially designed a mortar wear testing device. The wear resistance of UHMWPE is proportional to the molecular weight. The higher the molecular weight is, the better the wear resistance is.


Application

At present, UHMWPE has been in the textile, paper, packaging, transportation, in writing, chemical, mining and petroleum, construction, electrical, food, medical, sports and other fields are widely used, and began to enter the conventional weapons, ships, vehicles and other fields. It will also expand into space and atomic energy.
