12v gel battery

A 12v gel battery, also known as a “Gel Cell”, is a VRLA (valve-regulated lead–acid ) battery, a type of Sealed Acid Battery. The technology used in making gel cells is similar to AGM batteries. However, instead of utilizing the Absorbent Glass Material that AGM batteries use, gel batteries make use of gelled electrolytes. The solidified electrolytes reduce the risk of spillage and evaporation that results in corrosion problems.

Compared to ordinary batteries, gel batteries are much lighter. This technology only uses a small amount of solidified electrolyte to keep the acid immobile. Gel batteries have longer lifespan than traditional batteries; this is due to the fact that the gelled solution can hold their charge for a longer time. This battery type is also durable and can withstand extreme ranges in temperature.

Gel series batteries are designed to meet the requirements of frequent cyclic and high temperature applications. Such as broadband, PVs etc through up-to-date gel technologies. Our gel batteries uses German origin high purity fumed silica to form sulfuric acid thixotropic Gel and fills to the batteries with vacuum to ensure the fully penetration of electrolyte through separators and plates paste.

Question :  what is Gel battery

Answer :  A gel battery design is typically a modification of the standard lead acid automotive or marine battery. A gelling agent is added to the electrolyte to reduce movement inside the battery case. Many gel batteries also use one way valves in place of open vents, this helps the normal internal gasses to recombine back into water in the battery, reducing gassing. "Gel Cell" batteries are non-spillable even if they are broken. Gel cells must be charged at a lower voltage (C/20) than flooded or AGM to prevent excess gas from damaging the cells. Fast charging them on a conventional automotive charger may be permanently damage a Gel Battery.
