Product Details:
Electrofusion of HDPE uses electrofusion fittings which have small copper wires coiled around the inside. Electric current is then run through those wires using an electrofusion processor in turn melting the HDPE on the inside of the fitting and the outside of the pipe.

? What's the main difference between electrofusion & conventional heat fusion?
A: The main difference between conventional heat fusion and electrofusion is the method by which the heat is applied. In conventional heat fusion (butt, saddle and socket) joining, a heating tool is used to heat the pipe and fitting surfaces. The electrofusion joint is heated internally, either by a conductor at the interface of the joint or by a conductive polymer. Heat is created as an electric current is applied to the conductive material in the fitting. PE pipe to pipe connections made using the electrofusion process require the use of electrofusion couplings.

? What does "electrofusion" mean?
A: Electrofusion is a method of joining HDPE pipes using special fittings that have built-in electric heating elements which are used to weld the joint together.

The pipes to be joined are cleaned, inserted into the electrofusion fitting and a voltage (typically 40V) is applied for a fixed time depending on the fitting in use. The built in heater coils then melt the inside of the fitting and the outside of the pipe wall, which weld together producing a very strong homogeneous joint. The assembly is then left to cool for a specified time.

? What pressure rating can SUNPLAST provide for HDPE electrofusion fittings?
A: SUNPLAST HDPE electrofusion fittings be provided in SDR11, with pressure rating of PN12.5bars (for water) & PN4 bars (for gas) for PE80 fittings, PE16bars (for water) & PN10bars (for gas) for PE100 fittings. 

? How can electrofusion elbow 90°be used for?
A: HDPE electrofusion elbow 90°/HDPE electrofusion bend 90°is mainly used for the connection of the HDPE pipeline to bend at 90°welded by electrofusion welding machine.
