How To Do Blank Water Transfer Printing Film

1. Print your patterns, designs or pictures on the film with your inject printer using pigment inks.

Set the printer to “Mirror printing”, Material to “Inject paper” and to highest resolution.

2. Tape the film on the borders to stabilize it and apply the activator A to protect the ink, when printed with your inject printer and wait 45 seconds till the film is dried. (Offset printing does not need the activator A)

3. Pull off the paper on the backside and place the film on the water surface.

4. Fix the film in the in the water tank.

5. Apply the activator B and wait for 1 min, till the film is completely liquefied.

6. Assemble the objects you want to dip.

7. Dip your object evenly, best in an angle of 35 ~ 45 degrees.

8. Take it out and apply a clear top lacquer to protect the image.

Q1: What are the differences between Heat and Water transfer printing?

A1: Heat transfer printing are suitable for a more flat and smooth surface by using heat to transfer pattern onto product surface. Water transfer printing are suitable for a more complicated and irregular surface by using water to transfer pattern onto product surface.

Q2:What do I need to get set up in business?

A2:You need a water dipping tank, for starters. Smaller operations can use one of our four different sizes of manual tanks (manual meaning water immersion by hand). The size of the tank is determined by the size of the parts you expect to do. You need training, as well, which we provide. You also will need an open face spray booth for spraying primer and base paint and matte clears, and an enclosed spray booth for shooting high gloss clears. We have made specially designed booths that are smaller than traditional car paint booths to reduce the air flow when working with smaller parts, and you can purchase these from us as well. After you're trained, you'll need the water based paints used for this process, activator, film, and clear coats, all of which we provide.

Q3:How difficult is it to learn the process?
A3:Two days of training is conducted and historically it takes an additional period of two to three weeks to fine-tune the production line.

Q4:How scratch resistant is the final product?
A4:The clear acrylic recommended is the same as that used on auto exteriors
